An Act Establishing a Public Health Option
In an effort to expand access to affordable healthcare, this bill will create a public health insurance option through the Massachusetts Health Connector. This publicly administered plan will be offered alongside private insurance options to individuals, small businesses, and eventually large groups. It would provide Massachusetts residents with an alternative to private insurance while maintaining competition and consumer choice.
An Act Putting Patients Over Profits in Hospital Licensure
Currently, for-profit hospitals operate in the state, but this bill would prohibit any new for-profit acute-care hospitals from being established or licensed.
An Act Establishing Medicare for All in Massachusetts
This bill would create a system guaranteeing accessible and quality coverage, free at point-of-care, as a right while saving money for residents, businesses, and state and local government.
An Act Relative to Death Benefits to Surviving Spouses of Call and Volunteer Firefighters
Provides state health insurance for the family of a call and volunteer who dies in the line of service.
An Act Ensuring Safe Medication Administration
In an effort to cut costs, the state of Massachusetts, and other private sector healthcare providers have attempted to implement programs that allow unlicensed, inadequately trained staff to administrator a variety of medications in certain healthcare settings that should only be administered by registered nurses or other licensed staff. State regulations currently prohibit the practice in all but long-term care facilities. However, that could be changed at any time if the regulations are revised. This bill would prevent that by reflecting currently regulatory language in the Massachusetts General Laws.
An Act Ensuring Access to Specialty Medications
Prohibits Pharmacy Benefit Managers from reclassifying drugs to prevent them from being prescribed through a community pharmacy.
