A common – and extremely serious – violation is when a person or company dumps snow into wetlands. The DEP has found that as snow melts it becomes mixed with many pollutants. These pollutants include oil from cars, road salt, litter, and sand. Sand is surprisingly damaging. This is a simple bill that ameliorates a clearly-defined environmental issue affecting the quality of our drinking water.
