Stow, MA – Senator Jamie Eldridge (D-Acton) is pleased to announce that 22 Johnston Way, a property in the town of Stow, has received an award in the 2022 Affordable Housing (Rental Round) Program, administered by the Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD).

22 Johnston Way in Stow features the preservation/rehabilitation of an existing property and the construction of additional new affordable units on a separate site. Sponsored by non-profit partner Stow Elderly Housing Corp., DHCD will support the rehabilitation and new construction of apartments with federal and state low-income housing tax credits and subsidy funds.

The town of Stow also will provide Community Preservation Act funds in support of the project.  When completed, the project will offer 87 total units for seniors, as well as support services. All 87 units will be restricted for seniors earning less than 60% of AMI, with additional units further restricted for seniors earning less than 30% of AMI.

“Congratulations to the town of Stow as the grantee of this year’s affordable housing program awards. The state funding will greatly support renovations and new constructions of 22 Johnston Way, and provide 87 total units,” said State Senator Jamie Eldridge. “I would like to thank DHCD for their dedication and attention, and I am grateful to the town of Stow and its non-profit partners for their contributions.”

The DHCD program also extended awards to 25 other properties and housing projects across the Commonwealth. Lt. Governor Karyn Polito and Undersecretary Jennifer Maddox announced the awards in Falmouth Tuesday, July 26, 2022 in an event hosted by the Commonwealth’s Executive Office of Housing and Economic Development.
