Senator Eldridge and Representatives Sena Announce MassWorks Funding Granted to the Town of Harvard

The $1 million grant will be used for road safety improvements.

Harvard, MA – Senator Jamie Eldridge (D-Acton) and Representative Danillo Sena (D-Acton) are proud to announce that the Baker-Polito

administration has awarded the town of Harvard a MassWorks infrastructure grant of $1 million.

MassWorks is a competitive infrastructure program that provides large and flexible grants to communities to help them fund projects that contribute to initiatives such as housing, private development, and job production, all with the goal of creating a stronger and more sustainable Commonwealth.

The $1 million in funds awarded to Harvard will be used to construct a new drainage system and rehabilitate 3,500 feet of roadway along Slough Road, a local connector to Route 111, and commuter road for access to 495.

The project, which is supported by the Harvard Select Board and the Town along with a broad range of stakeholders, will improve hazardous road conditions along the roadway following heavy rain and snow events, especially when temperatures are below freezing. Project improvements will focus on the construction of a closed drainage system, with new pipes and catch basins to properly manage stormwater, along with reclamation of the roadway.

I am grateful to the Baker-Polito administration for the $1 million grant to the town of Harvard,” said State Senator Jamie Eldridge. “These road and drainage improvements will help upgrade a difficult intersection in Harvard, and enhance walking, biking and recreational opportunities for Harvard residents.”

“I am pleased to see Harvard receive this grant of $1 million from the MassWorks program. Improving our road quality and safety is critical, and these funds will have a visibly positive impact on driving in Harvard,” said Representative Danillo Sena.
