Senator Eldridge Secures $150,000 in FY21 Budget for Clear Path for Veterans in Devens

Acton, MA - State Senator Jamie Eldridge (D-Acton) secured funding for Clear Path for Veterans New England in the FY2021 budget. As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to strain our communities, it is imperative to provide the resources necessary to meet the demand put on community programs that work to uplift vulnerable populations. For the nearly half-million veterans living in Massachusetts, veteran services continue to be an indispensable resource.

“I am proud to have secured a $150,000 earmark for the ClearPath for Veterans at Devens, to help the organization renovate a historical building to serve all the needs of military veterans” said State Senator Jamie Eldridge (D-Acton). “Last year, Clear Path invited area legislators to tour the newly-acquired facility, and explain their vision of serving veterans who have had serious mental or physical health impacts from their brave service. I am excited to see the facility up and running, and pleased to ensure some state support for this important veterans service facility in the district that I represent.”

Located in Devens, Clear Path for Veterans New England provides support through a wellness-based Veterans’ Community Center to bolster those who served, with a particular emphasis on reconnecting Veterans to their communities upon their return home. The secured funding will be utilized to support renovations to an outreach and wellness service center due to increased client need and enhanced social distancing necessitated by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We are so grateful to be recognized by the State legislature for this funding opportunity. The funding will ensure that Veterans and families in the region have a necessary resource. This funding will aid in the completion of the renovations to our Veterans Resource and Wellness Center. Our Center located in Devens will offer the much-needed integrated community health and wellness services to veterans and their families on their “Journey Home.” Clear Path for Veterans New England Inc. is thrilled to be able to welcome Veterans, their families, and the community to a newly renovated facility that will offer complete wrap-around services to Veterans and families utilizing a wellness approach,” said Donna Bulger, Executive Director of Clear Path for Veterans New England.

The FY2021 budget was passed by the Massachusetts Senate and House of Representatives on Friday, December 4th, and is now on Governor Baker’s desk.
