Senator Eldridge, Representative Gouveia, and Representative Sena Announce $2.3M Grant to Acton to Build Infrastructure for Affordable Senior Housing
Grant will provide financial support for new sewer infrastructure
Acton, MA – State Senator Jamie Eldridge (D-Acton), State Representative Tami Gouveia (D-Acton), and State Representative Dan Sena (D-Acton) are pleased to announce a $2,300,000 state grant to the town of Acton to build infrastructure for affordable senior housing. The grant, awarded as part of the Commonwealth’s Community One Stop for Growth program, will provide financial support for new sewer infrastructures for the Acton Housing Authority’s affordable senior housing project.
The project will include utility extensions, drainage, stormwater collection sites, retaining walls, hydrants, and sidewalks, according to the town’s public announcement. The new senior living space, called McManus Manor Residences, will be located at 362 Main Street, a prime location with walkable access to grocery shopping, bank services, and restaurants.
Currently, the Acton Housing Authority reports more than 2,000 people in need of affordable housing. The $2.3M state grant greatly facilitates the construction process for the housing project and also plays a major role in the town’s South Acton Vision and Action Plan and 3A Zoning project.
“I am pleased to announce this award to Acton. Providing safe, accessible, and affordable senior housing is – and has always been – a top priority for the town of Acton. I am very glad to see that this state grant will provide critical financial support and push the project forward,” said State Senator Jamie Eldridge. “I am grateful to the Executive Office of Housing and Economic Development for administering this grant to Acton. Congratulations to Acton town officials who worked hard to make this happen.”
“It is wonderful to see Acton take meaningful action to build more affordable, humane housing for our seniors,” said State Representative Tami Gouveia. “Thank you to the Executive Office of Housing and Economic Development and the Community One Stop for Growth program for providing our town with this incredible opportunity.”
“The $2,300,000 state grant will provide crucial financial support for Acton to advance the Affordable Senior Housing Project,” said State Representative Dan Sena. I am thankful to all that contributed to making this happen. Our seniors deserve access to affordable housing that will help them continue to flourish in our community.”
